Southampton Comedy Society presents The Comedy Fridge 2016, a three day comedy festival guaranteed to leave you in hysterics! This is your first chance to see the shows that ComedySoc will be bringing up to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, along with some other amazing acts.
Here’s the extravaganza we have planned for you:
28th April: Improv
It’s fast, it’s high-pressure, it’s hilarious. The festival will open with some high quality, seriously impressive improv. Going on stage with no scripts and armed with only audience suggestions, almost anything could happen.
Acts:
Beard of Zeus (previously Southampton Outtakes) (“fun, fast-paced student improvised comedy” – Edfringe Review)
The Idle Playthings (“rib-achingly hilarious” – Pie Magazine)
Bristol Improv (“some of the sharpest young minds on the improvised comedy circuit” – Younger Theatre)
Using musical seeds, the team from Bristol Improv will perform a selection of improvised monologues and scenes. Humorous, zany or deeply moving – we won’t know until the night!
29th April: Sketches
If you like sketch comedy, you’ll love the second night of The Comedy Fridge, an evening full of side-splitting sketches just for you. If you do not love sketch comedy, get ready for us to change your mind!
Acts:
Southampton Spotlights (previously Southampton Jesters) (“rip-roaringly amusing” – The Edge)
Bristol Revunions (“a first class example of what a student sketch comedy show can be” – Broadway Baby)
The VA (“hilarious” – Broadway Baby)
The Idle Playthings (“Comedy Gold” – Milk Magazine)
30th April: TV Pilots
You do not want to miss the final night of the festival, in which you’ll be witness to a selection of failed TV Pilots. That’s right, it’s the pilots that were just too outrageous to hit the air, but we managed to snag a few and we will be sharing them with you for one night only! An event you do not want to miss!
Acts:
Scorched Limbs
Ludwig Tonight
Sam and Tom (“Giddy, immature … surreal and funny” –CounterfeitMag.co.uk)
We will be bringing in professional acts and teaming up with acts from other universities, so keep checking this page for some massive announcements coming soon!
